Funding for the arts in recent years has been critically diminished. It is especially distressing for an art form such as jazz, which speaks to freedom of expression and the very democratic ideals on which the US was founded. Jazz Arts Project serves as a remedy and an enhancement to the cultural landscape of communities and people of all ages, creeds, colors, and nationalities in and around Monmouth County.

Early in 2006, artistic director Joe Muccioli formed Jazz Arts Project with a vision to serve the region by presenting professional performances showcasing top-flight national and international jazz artists, building an audience who appreciates this artistry, and developing youth outreach and music education programs as an advocate for jazz. Building upon his own professional relationships in the industry, Joe convinced many of his friends and colleagues to venture down to Red Bank from NYC to perform and to serve as mentors and instructors for the educational programs.

Today, Jazz Arts Project produces 25 to 30 free and affordable events each year from intimate jazz cafe nights through large-scale events at concert halls in central New Jersey, featuring world-class jazz professionals showcasing their work. We also operate transformative educational workshops, training programs, specialized music camps, and other programs for area youth to grow the next generation of jazz composers, performers, and audiences.
