Keep the Story Going Challenge
Help 430 Kids Stay in the Imagination Library
Every month, more than 1,300 children across Northwest Alabama receive the gift of reading through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, funded and administered by United Way of Northwest Alabama.
Each child receives free, age-appropriate books mailed directly to their home every month—building early literacy skills, inspiring imagination, and strengthening family connections.
While the program is completely free for families, it costs $35 per child per year to provide these books. That’s why we rely on community support to make it possible.
Today, we’re facing a challenge.
Because of funding cuts beyond our control, 430 children are at risk of losing access to the program. We must raise $15,000 to ensure every child continues receiving books without interruption.
Thanks to generous support in recent years, enrollment has grown—putting more books into more homes. And as Dolly says,
“You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children.”
Now, we need your help to keep that momentum going.
You can keep the story alive:
• $35 sponsors one child for an entire year
• $1,000 supports 29 children and includes logo recognition on our website and social media
• $2,500 sponsors 72 children and includes your business name printed on the address label of each book, plus logo recognition for the year on website, social media, and any printed materials throughout the year.
Your gift—no matter the size—helps ensure every child can continue discovering the joy of reading.
Together, we can keep the story going for all 1,300 children in Northwest Alabama.
