With the Governor and Legislature planning to overhaul our education system, Vermont has a unique chance to stop funding schools that discriminate against LGBTQ+ students and those with disabilities. The Supreme Court’s Carson v. Makin decision heightened this issue by mandating public funds include discriminatory religious and private schools unless funding for all private schools is eliminated. This landmark ruling underscores the urgent need for action.

We are raising money to fund a lobbying and communications effort led by expert lobbyists and communications professionals who have strong relationships with lawmakers and the Scott administration. Our goal is to ensure that the distribution of public money for education in Vermont is done in a manner that is consistent with our state and federal constitutions. All schools that receive public funding must agree to comply with the state’s public school rules and regulations.

Our underfunded public schools lose critical resources with every dollar diverted to private schools, undermining their ability to serve Vermont’s children equitably. The Carson v. Makin ruling exposes the risks of continuing to fund private schools without oversight or alignment with Vermont’s values.

To address this, we’ve built a strong and experienced team with fresh energy and a clear mission. With your support, we can drive meaningful change and ensure taxpayer dollars reflect Vermont’s values of equity, inclusion, and accountability.
