Ka ʻIwa Hoʻolaʻi is a collective group of keiki, mākua, ʻohana, and kumu ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi on a mission to share and perpetuate Hawaiian language normalcy in Hawaiʻi, and around the world!

After successfully completing Kīkaha 2022 and 2023, planning for Kīkaha 2024 has already begun! This educational out of state experience for the entire ʻohana to participate in and enjoy, will allow us to travel to Anaheim, California and celebrate a Lā ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi- Hawaiian Language Day at the happiest place on earth...Disneyland! We will also be celebrating the International Mother Language Day on February 21st, 2024.

The main goal of our trip is to encourage the normalcy of Hawaiian language and culture, while also providing future generations with inspiration to speak their native language wherever they go. During February - Hawaiian Language Month - we will raise awareness that Hawaiian is a living and breathing language, as well as one of two official state languages; the second being English. By speaking our language with one another at Disneyland, sharing words and vocabulary specific to Disneyland, answering questions and sharing our aloha with those around us, our language will be that much closer to being heard around the world.

This third annual opportunity cannot happen without the generous aloha and support of those in our community, who see the value of our language and share the commitment to its perpetuation. Our fundraising efforts will help to differ travel costs, lodging and accommodations, purchase educational resources and tools, as well as being able to secure a Hawaiian Airlines flight fully equiped with an elite Hawaiian Language speaking flight crew!
