Every community has people who show up. We're building the structure that lets them keep showing up.

The Kinship Mutual Aid Foundation was formed around a simple truth: good ideas need a home. We exist to hold and support community-centered programs that nourish people, sustain the planet, and build the bonds that make neighbors out of strangers.

Our first and founding program is Joy's Kitchen, a food rescue and redistribution operation serving more than 3,000 families every month across the Denver metro area.

Every week, Joy's Kitchen intercepts surplus food before it reaches the landfill, sorts it with the help of community volunteers, and distributes it freely at public sites in Lakewood and Denver. No income verification. No paperwork. No appointments. If you need food, you're welcome at the table.

What makes Joy's Kitchen different isn't just what we do — it's how we do it. Approximately 98% of our volunteers also receive food through the program. There is no separation between giver and receiver here. We don't believe in charity from a distance. We believe in mutual aid: neighbors showing up for neighbors, resources flowing between equals, kinship at the center of everything.
