tl;dr - help support the Montclair High School Girls Soccer Team

Last year, Montclair High School Girls Soccer had a historically successful season - winning championships in the NJSIAA Sectionals, the Essex County Tournament, and the Super Essex Conference.

This year our state has faced unprecedented challenges. Those challenges shed doubt on the NJ High School Soccer 2020 season proceeding at all. But thanks to the sacrifices of our community, the hard work of our local and state leaders, and the dedication of our coaches and players, we are now at the beginning of a slightly shortened - but very exciting season. The varsity team is currently ranked #4 in highly competitive New Jersey.

BUT - 

Last year’s success was not built on luck. It was rooted in qualities that are inherent in this team and our community - rigor, commitment, trust, perseverance, and selflessness (to name just a few). Those qualities will be needed again as we navigate through the coming uncertainties and compromises of this season. 

IMPORTANTLY - 

This team’s success is also rooted in the support of friends and family like you.

Together we can strive for a success that may look and feel different than last year’s, but will perhaps be even sweeter.

The MHS Girls Soccer Booster Club is a non profit, tax exempt organization whose goal is to support all of our players, coaches, teams, and parents. We help out with team photography and video, communications, the season end banquet, trophies, senior and coach gifts, special equipment, uniform extras and other program expenses not covered by the school district. Most importantly, our goal is to support the development of our female athletes not only as skillful soccer players, but as strong community-minded leaders. Through the shared struggle on the field, they can develop the physical, mental, and social well-being to help them succeed throughout their lives.

Last year we were able to add in advanced video analysis services via HUDL, which the coaches felt was an enormous developmental asset. We hope to continue that service this year which requires that we film every varsity game - and JV and Frosh games when possible. Our Mountie Mania community outreach program last year brought many new young fans to the stands. These young fans were able to see strong female role models striving and succeeding as a team. Current conditions may make that program challenging, but we hope to find some way to continue. We are also in the beginning stages of figuring out a way to preserve the tradition of honoring our athletes with an end of season banquet, which will of course be more complicated and expensive this year in order to comply with all necessary safety protocols. 

In order to pay for these programs, we need to raise operating funds. We understand that the pandemic has made family finances difficult for so many in our community and that not everyone is in a position to contribute at this time. During last year’s fundraiser, we set goals and provided incentives to the girls to raise funds. This year we don’t feel that is appropriate. We are simply asking that you help if you can. Please know that we consider all of you reading this part of our community. If you are in a position to contribute any amount to this fundraiser - it will be greatly appreciated. 

In spite of all the challenges we will face, we are proud and excited to see our girls return to the field. This is an amazing team with an amazing tradition. We welcome everyone to be part of our community so that tradition may continue into the future.
