Love the Hub supports families and individuals in the Hub City area who are experiencing a temporary crisis, through financial support and direct engagement.

Love the Hub was birthed out of the community work being done at Aldersgate Church in Lubbock, Texas. The Love the Hub fund was established on Easter Sunday 2020 in response to the abrupt arrival of the crises caused by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since 2020, Love the Hub has taken great joy in helping give relief to families in need in West Texas. To date, the Love the Hub fund has assisted over 1000 individuals and families with over 300,000 in support. We estimate this assistance has impacted over 2200 Lubbock area-residents in over 38 neighborhoods across the city. In 2023, we began serving the 8 counties surrounding Lubbock, including Hale County, Lamb County, Hockley County, Terry County, Lynn County, Garza County, Crosby County, and Floyd County.

Although Covid-19 has been declared over, the needs in the Lubbock community have only continued to grow due to unprecedented inflation in a number of areas. As of September 2022, the annual inflation rate is 8.2%. Before inflation soared, the 2021 Lubbock community assessment highlighted needs for low income families in the Lubbock area. The three greatest needs were rent assistance, utility assistance, and help with food. We hear story after story, week after week, of hard working individuals and families that are unable to make all of their payments because one emergency or unexpected expense arose.

Love the Hub has noticed a growing need not just to give crisis relief to those in need, but to build programs focused on long-term community development. As we dream and build towards the future, we hope Love the Hub continues to provide rental, utility, and emergency food assistance for individuals and families facing a temporary crisis in the Lubbock area. We also are developing programs to help alleviate poverty for Lubbock-area individuals and families. In 2024, we plan on launching a Career Launch program to provide tangible steps towards self-sufficiency.
