It's Synchromy's 10th birthday! What an exciting 10 years it has been. For our birthday, we are asking for you to become a monthly donor at either $10 per month (one dollar for each year) or $23 per month (the date we were brought into this world). This will allow us to continue our composer support programs, including the following projects. All of these projects are free for audiences and composers, so your support is invaluable.
One of our most successful projects involves workshopping operas by local composers. We have been staging partial or full performances of operas, using these to create robust video samples to pitch to opera companies, and the response has been overwhelming. Major opera companies have taken notice, leading to opportunities such as performances and commissions. These performances have also supported university tenure for some of the composers involved.
Additionally, we're launching a tool lending library for composers in partnership with Nick Norton and Richard An. We plan to purchase essential equipment like microphones, speakers, instruments, and mixing boards, which composers can borrow to put together performances or recordings of their music on their own. This initiative will provide invaluable resources to our community and help facilitate the production of groundbreaking music.
Another highlight is our annual Urban Birds initiative, which has evolved into a full-fledged festival celebrating Los Angeles' nature and its non-human residents. This year, our focus is on Elephant Hill, a greenspace in El Sereno facing significant challenges due to illegal dumping and offroading. Through the Urban Birds festival, we aim to raise awareness of these issues and garner support to preserve this vital ecosystem for local residents and wildlife alike.
Your generous donation would directly support these important projects, enabling us to continue our mission of fostering creativity, supporting emerging composers, and enriching our community. Thank you for considering joining us in this endeavor. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and ensure that Synchromy continues as a composer support network for years to come.
