On the night of August 31, 2025, a powerful magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan, shaking the provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar at 11:47 p.m. local time.

💔 The shallow depth of just 8 km intensified the devastation. Authorities report over 1,400 deaths and 3,000+ injuries in Kunar province alone, with the worst-hit districts being Nur Gul, Soki, Watpur, Manogi, and Chapa Dara.

The Children of War is deeply saddened by this tragedy that has claimed so many lives and left thousands injured. Our hearts and prayers are with the affected communities.
