ECV No Se Vende and Desert Communities United are collaborating on a mutual aid and resource distribution project for Oasis Mobile Home Park residents! We will be taking financial donations and hosting events in the near future to raise money for the project itself. Please share this post and donate if you can! Desert Communities United is a mutual aid based in the High Desert of California which centers undocumented communities, black and indigenous people, people of color, and unhoused folks. Our focus is to provide basic necessities such as groceries, cash aid, in addition to herbal medicines and resources to underrepresented people. We provide aid throughout the low and high deserts by working with community members and other grassroots groups.

ECV NSV is a grassroots intersectional feminist organization from the Eastern Coachella Valley. Fighting gentrification and creating new systems of community empowerment. We strive to create safe spaces to celebrate our stories, share grievances & express ourselves in all ways possible and build collective power that is free, free from legacies of colonialism, environmental racism and capitalistic exploitation. ¡ECV NO SE VENDE!

Description of fundraising goals

Our current goal is to provide food, water and other resources (that include PPE for residents and possibly cash aid) for 50 families in the park. We hope to launch the mutual aid and resource distribution by early-mid November and with community support we may be able to reach more residents! Members of ECV NSV have organized around issues faced by ECV and OMHP residents relating to housing, gentrification and clean drinking water and some of us have families who still live in the park itself. We know that the root issues faced by OMHP residents are large and require immense resources and mass mobilization and won’t be solved with one project alone. But we also know that creating a system of care that uplifts our community in difficult times is an essential first step toward helping to improve the well-being of OMHP and the community at large.

We hope that this project can achieve its goal in raising more awareness around the systemic issues faced by OMHP residents and other unincorporated areas of the Eastern Coachella Valley and more importantly offer mutual support to residents!

What funds provided will go to

50 meals kits including enough food for 2-3 weeks (depending on family size)

5 gallon water dispensers for each family

PPE including masks, gloves, and necessary supplies for both families and volunteers)

Gas cards / direct cash aid for families

Our goal of $3000 will give us ample room to achieve our goal of providing essential resources , and whatever does not go directly to the event in November will go towards maintaining resource distribution for the future.
