In the seventies, polyester was the material of choice, The Godfather was the blockbuster hit, and we were all singin' "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by the legendary Roberta Flack. For the first time on October 7th, 1972, our 10-watt transmitter whirred to life, the live on-air sign glowed, and the residents of West Las Vegas 89106 heard, "you are listening to KCEP 88.1 FM Las Vegas."

In our 50 years on the air, we've truly become The People's Station, ensuring that listeners have only the highest quality access to crucial news and information, community-oriented programming, and of course, great music. We've seen KCEP Power 88.1 FM non-partisan public radio station grow to ten thousand watts of power, and our reach and listenership expand throughout the valley and beyond.

While bell bottoms may be back in style, our modern technology provides many benefits and higher sound quality, including new high-definition channels!
