Law Day CLE & Luncheon 2024

(LAREDO, TX) – Amber Holmes, President of the Laredo Webb County Bar Association, announces the 2024 Law Day Celebration on Wednesday, May 1st. Nationally recognized and celebrated, Law Day honors the rule of law and the crucial role it plays in our society. Voices of Democracy is the 2024 Law Day theme, highlighting the value of voting and expressing political views in accordance with the rule of law and the voting rights protected by our court system.

The highlight of this year's Law Day celebration will be the presentation of the prestigious Law Day Chair Award to Webb County Court-at-Law II Judge Victor Villareal. The Law Day Chair Award is given annually to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the community in promoting justice and upholding the principles of the rule of law. His commitment to justice, access to justice, and his contributions to the local and statewide legal community, including 15 years of service to the Laredo-Webb County Bar Association and local lawyers, make Judge Villarreal an excellent choice for this award.

Additionally, President Holmes announces that Safe Haven Director Bernadette Everette will receive the Liberty Bell Award. Given annually to a deserving person who has made outstanding contributions to the legal community, the Liberty Bell Award is given to a non-lawyer community member. Ms. Everette's dedication provides a safe and supportive environment for parents, guardians, and custodians in need. Her work reflects and embodies the spirit of the award.

Law Day will be celebrated on May 1st at the Zaragoza Ballroom at La Posada Hotel, starting at noon. Legal professionals-- including lawyers, legal support staff, and law enforcement officers--community leaders, elected officials, and members of the public to come together and celebrate the importance of the rule of law in our society.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, including event and table sponsorships. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be allocated to college and university students—all meant to support aspiring students pursuing a career in law.

Expressing her enthusiasm for Law Day and the recognition it brings to the local legal community President Holmes said, "Law Day is a significant event that allows us to honor the rule of law and its impact on our society. We are proud to recognize Bernadette Everette for her exceptional work at Safe Haven and grateful to Judge Victor Villareal for his leadership as the Law Day Chair. We also appreciate the support of our sponsors and their contribution to student scholarships. This event is more than a celebration; it is an opportunity to showcase the important work being done by the legal community in Laredo and to lay down the path for student success."
