Southwestern Michigan College is a hidden jewel in Cass County.  Most everyone who visits comments on it's physical beauty and feeling of being a "real college".  And I can't agree more - it's a beautiful place and it IS a REAL college!

I have worked here now for over 13 years and find that our mission remains relevant -  to serve our community by providing affordable local access to high quality postsecondary career preparation and college education - including the total college life experience.

I believe SMC is a wonderful option for so many young people who need to get a good start on their path to a career - whether that be by getting their feet wet in higher education before transferring to a university or getting a degree in a trade in which they can start their career immediately.  We have all read about the increasing costs of college attendance and the increasing needs of the students who attend college.  SMC is a great resource to address both of these issues.  Our tuition rates are about half of most of the state 4-year public universities and one of our core values is "Excellence with a personal touch".  Students who choose to come to SMC can get a high quality education with personal attention at a fraction of the cost of other places.

But all students can benefit from financial assistance on their educational journey.  SMC has a robust scholarship program with scholarships available for most every interest group - the arts, agriculture, athletics, engineering, nursing, trades, etc.  A large portion of these scholarship funds are funded by donors through the SMC Foundation.  Whatever your passion or interest may be, I encourage you help us support these students by making a donation to the SMC Foundation on Giving Tuesday.

The SMC Foundation exists to ensure that all eligible students have financial access to Southwestern Michigan College. It also supports the college in areas not funded through taxes, tuition, and grants like campus beautification projects.

The foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation that was established in 1970. It is governed by a board of directors made up of local community members who volunteer their time.
