Adult Education

Kalamazoo Refugee Resource Collaborative's adult educational programming includes a 5-week English, Employment, and Empowerment immersion program where recent newcomers are provided an orientation to local educational resources, employment readiness skills, and overall business landscape. This program includes an English intensive that has shown to provide a 2-grade level increase in literacy. Also rolling out in 2025 is an extension of the Global Institute of Lansing's high school completion program, which provides a facilitated online pathway to achieving a high school diploma. Eligibility starts once the student has aged out of high school. This program provides an alternative to the GED pathway, and an on-ramp to KVCC and then WMU. Other adult education programming includes driving lessons through the use of our driving simulator, and assistance with employment certification programs such as MSU's Impart Alliance program.
