What is the Saree Run?

The Saree Run embodies the limitless spirit of women. Our grandmothers once walked miles in sarees, driven by dreams of becoming athletes and attaining a quality education. Today, having come a long way in our transformation, we ask: why not make the Saree mainstream, breaking free from limitations?

Purpose of the Run:

The primary objective of the Saree Run is to raise funds to support girls’ education and other crucial women’s initiatives. Here’s how we aim to achieve this: while the run itself is free for all participants, we encourage each participant to leverage their networks, spread the word, and actively seek donations. In the past two years, with 200 to 250 participants, we successfully raised a total of $15,000. This year, our goal is even more ambitious – aiming to raise a grand total of $20,000.

Who we are:

Desis of Doylestown is a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization for Social Change. We achieve our vision by opening hearts and minds through: education, advocacy, allyship, strategic partnerships, and by creating a space and place where our community of South Asians can connect and foster a sense of belonging through community engagement.

Arva Yoga is a non-profit organization that offers free and accessible yoga classes and workshops for people from all walks of life with the goal of spreading awareness of the true meaning of yoga while promoting overall mind-body-spirit wellness. Arva's goal is to improve and help one mind, one body, and one soul at a time.

How you can get involved:

Register to run, walk, or roll for the 4th Annual Saree Run at Central Park in Bucks County on Sunday, April 27, 2025. The event is open to all ages, genders, races, identities, and abilities, with participants encouraged (but not required to) wear a Saree.

Donate to our campaign, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the following organizations: Shiksha Nidhi, Women's Place, and Girls' Empowered, alongside DOD and Arva Yoga. These organizations directly support girls' education and empowerment of women.
