Eight years ago, following the fatal Charlottesville rally in August 2017, four moms in Chattanooga, TN found themselves frustrated and feeling like they were yelling into a vacuum. They founded the Moms for Social Justice, a group where families, caregivers and moms, could be more engaged in activism within their community.

AND HERE'S HOW WE DID OVER THESE LAST 8 YEARS:

Installed 20+ welcoming and inviting classroom libraries filled with thousands of inclusive, diverse books in our local Hamilton County Public Schools
Hosted workshops and discussions on a variety of social justice topics including: dismantling racism, supporting trans children, and talking about abortion
Spoken (and encouraged our community to speak) to the School Board, County Commission, and City Council about issues affecting our community
Hosted story hours for kids about social justice issues including: LGBTQIA+ pride, celebrating all kinds of families, activism, and more
Gathered groups of parents, caregivers, and community members to participate in local protests as well as donating supplies to keep those protesting hydrated and comfortable
Awarded four local high school seniors with our annual "Agent of Change" award which consists of $1,000+ to be spent however they need upon graduation
Encouraged our community to be politically engaged locally and nationally by sharing election information as well as encouraging our community to run for office
Installed two Community Libraries at local non-profit organizations
Given away hundreds of books at our flagship event, The Magic of Literacy (2018, 2019, and 2024)
Fundraised for local individuals, families, and organizations doing good work
Partnered with many local organizations for community events
Educated our local community about like-minded local organizations, social justice topics, and ways to become more engaged in their community
Helped start 5+ Moms for Social Justice chapters across the United States
And much more!

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

As you know, making things happen requires people power + money. We've got the people power covered. Everyone involved with MSJ (leadership, ambassadors, community members) is a volunteer and no one receives a salary. The money is where you come in. You can rest assured that every penny you donate will benefit the local Chattanooga community in some way.

All of this being said, we know that things are difficult right now. Life is expensive, but to help our community we are simply asking for anything you can spare.
