Texas Land for Native Preservation

We are fundraising to purchase and steward land in Central Texas to preserve the medicine and ancient wisdom of the Native people, so that we may continue sharing with those from all walks of life.

Peyote Preservation

One of our primary intentions behind the land use is to protect and preserve this sacred plant that is now endangered due to the industrialization of the areas where this medicine grows.

Generational sharing of Native wisdom

The land will also serve as a ceremonial space to continue sharing what the ancestors have left us - Sweat Lodge (Temazcal), Mexica and NAC ceremonies, Danza, and more.

Teokalli Quetzalcoatl

Teokalli Quetzalcoatl is a Texas non profit organization founded in 1997 by Kuauhtli Vasquez, an elder and wisdom keeper who was one of the first pioneers that led the global sharing of the Mexica and Native American ceremonies. For over 35 years, he has shared these traditions in over 40 countries, serving many people around the world.

Together with his wife Delfina Akarâ and their family, they now hold the vision and goal of creating the Teokalli Quetzalcoatl headquarters in Texas — a sacred land that will serve both the Earth and its people, from generation to generation. Though millions of Native descendants live in Texas, there are only three very small “reservations” here.

The Land

The ~6 acres of land we would like to purchase and steward is in Driftwood, Texas, only 25 minutes from Austin and 1.5 hrs from San Antonio - many Native descendants and participants in this way of life reside in this area.

Total Fundraise: 2 Million USD

- $1M has already been pledged, contingent on the remaining amount being fundraised.

- We are raising an additional $1M to complete this project.

$2M Breakdown of Expenses:

- $1.39M for the land purchase

- Additional $600k for closing costs, infrastructure, and land improvements. This includes installing a large potable rainwater harvesting system, multiple yurts and living spaces, a maloca, ceremonial space, herb garden, and more.
