I started The Gitty Foundation because I made a promise — to myself, for my daughter — that I would do everything in my power to live, and to make a difference.

I was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer at 47, when my daughter was just four years old — despite being BRCA-negative and having no known genetic risk factors. Since then, I’ve fought this disease three times, enduring surgeries, treatment, and radiation, all while raising my daughter as a single mother and refusing to give up.

Now, she’s 11. And I’m still here. Still fighting. Still showing up. Still hopeful.

But this fight shouldn’t last forever. No woman should have to live with cancer as a chronic, incurable disease. No child should have to grow up fearing they’ll lose their mother to something we have the power to change.

I founded The Gitty Foundation to help fund groundbreaking research, support women living with metastatic breast cancer, and push toward what we all deserve: a cure.
