Launch East Bay Rhythm
East Bay Rhythm is building a grassroots community of girl-identifying athletes – led by girl-identifying athletes – where players, coaches and families empower themselves and each other.
Founders Lauren Battung (LB) and Sam Walker, both Cal Women’s Soccer alums, envision girls-only spaces where athletes of all levels, abilities, cultural experiences, and class backgrounds have access to:
Female coaches
Quality programming and field space
Positive peer-to-peer relationship building in low stakes environments
Opportunities to develop as members of their communities
Although we’re starting with soccer, we have other sports in our future!
Over the next two months, we’ll be testing our model at spring drop-in soccer clinics, offered at sliding scale pricing, as well as building connections and awareness in the East Bay youth sports community. And we’ll be fundraising.
We seek to raise $20,000, which will go towards start-up costs, recruitment of women-identifying coaches, brand development, program launch, and prep for program expansion – we have big plans for summer and fall that include camps, more clinic offerings and parent education programming.
We see ourselves as a social enterprise and are committed to growing through local support. This means prioritizing funding from East Bay individuals, families, and local businesses who believe in our approach.
We hope you will join us in reaching our goal to kick off our dream of an East Bay sport community created for and by girl-identifying athletes!
