Layla here had done everything she was supposed to. She came to us with her siblings from an owner who couldn't afford puppies and wanted them to get good homes. She spent her two weeks in quarantine foster care and met the most wonderful couple who couldn't wait to take her home. She got her SECOND parvo booster and was nervous but ready.....then the unthinkable - shortly after getting to her new home, she starts to feel unwell. After 24hr of monitoring and talking with her former foster, the adopters reach out asking what to do because something clearly wasn't ok with her.
Without hesitation, we immediately parvo test, thinking how could this be???🤔 And then our world was shattered with the presence of one tiny pink line...... so the adopters scoop Layla up and take her to the only local emergency vet in town to get her checked out and stabilized.... our plan was to stabilize overnight and then move her to our usual vet in the AM for continued care. Unfortunately, the adopters & the vets caring for Layla fear the move would be too much on her system and want to continue care at the Emergency Clinic. That estimate is $4000-7000 with a deposit of $4800 just to get her seen and stabilized. Fast forward 36hr, she is stable and hanging in there this morning, still not eating and vomits on occasion when she drinks, but she's getting a bit more curious about everything. Now we need prayers & donations for Layla while she fights hard to get well and finally get to enjoy her furever family. She may have just met them, but she already loves them so much, help us ensure she gets the care she needs to get back home!
For those curious about her siblings - they are remaining in quarantine for a new period but so far are showing zero symptoms or signs of having the virus.
