For those who have been following the devastating case in North Carolina, 163 pigs were found living in one of the worst hoarding situations many rescuers have ever seen. Many of these pigs were starving, suffering, and truly knocking on death’s door.

But something incredible happened. Through the power of five organizations coming together, the unthinkable began — rescue efforts were launched to save these pigs and give them a chance at life.

While working on this heartbreaking case alongside some truly dedicated pig advocates, we were alerted to a very special little pig on the property. As many of you know, our mission at Layla’s Rescue Ranch is to help pigs with special needs. When we heard about him, there was no hesitation.

We said YES — even knowing his medical care will likely be lifelong and extensive.

Because he needed us.
And we knew our incredible community of supporters would stand beside us.

💛 Meet Sweet Truffles.

Truffles has already begun his journey here at Layla’s Rescue Ranch.

This tiny boy is only 4 weeks old. He is blind and showing neurologic deficits, making it difficult for him to function like the other piglets. Because of this, his siblings would not allow him to nurse and he had to be pulled from his family to survive.

Truffles was rescued from unimaginable living conditions — conditions no animal should ever endure.

Now safe at the ranch, he is receiving round-the-clock care.
He is currently being kept warm under heat and is being pan-fed warm milk every few hours while we monitor him very closely.

But this is just the beginning.

Truffles urgently needs a full veterinary workup and a neurology consultation so we can determine the best possible plan of care for him. His medical needs will be significant, and we cannot do this without you.
