Construction for Change (commonly referred to as CfC) is a construction management nonprofit specializing in owner’s representation predominantly in the greater Seattle area and the African continent via work in Uganda, Kenya, Togo, etc.

As owner’s representatives, they act on behalf of building (new and upgraded) owners’ best interests, to oversee on-time and on-budget success. CfC is committed to delivering inspired, purposeful, and quality social infrastructure (schools, clinics, community centers, community kitchens, safe houses, etc.) in a manner that also advances DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) in the construction industry.

The organization’s long-standing partnerships with local and global design professionals allow it to match client’s specific needs with highly customized management solutions and value-added services. CfC keeps its clients and community members at the heart of the decision-making process, every step of the way.

The Project Managers Whose Contracts You Will Secure

Ayawavi Attisso

Ayawavi Attisso is a Civil Engineer specialized in the design, construction, control, supervision, and application of public health infrastructure standards. She holds a Master 2 in civil engineering and infrastructure. She raises awareness of and advocates for accessibility for people with disabilities.

She is a Fulbright/Humphrey alumna of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT/SPURS (Special Program for Urban and Regional Studies). She is also Mandela Washington Fellow 2016.

Ayawavi has developed a mentoring program for teenagers and finances the education of young girls and disadvantaged young people; she organizes school and carriers’ orientation sessions and encourages young people to choose science and technology courses. With her organization URPLANEED (Urban Planning, Environment and Education), she organizes mentoring and leadership sessions for young people and supports municipalities / town halls to better plan their cities.

She is one of the 10 women of influence crowned at the National Women's Leadership Summit in December 2021. She is a partner with Plan International on gender awareness programs and intergenerational discussions. Ayawavi is also on the second rapporteur of the Board of Examiners of the Engineers Institution of Togo.

Edith Nyambura

Edith graduated from the University of Kenya with honors where she received a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Surveying. Edith later received a master’s degree in Project Management from the Atlantic International University.

Edith was inspired to volunteer by CfC’s mission statement. In June of 2019, Edith volunteered as an unpaid project manager for the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy project. The school provides free education to over 130 high school girls every year, and offers college scholarships for bachelor’s degrees or vocational training. The girls receive an excellent education from university trained teachers.

Through CfC, Edith has been able to continue to support her community. In October of 2021, she became a permanent Pre-Construction Manager. She continues to work with CfC to better her community.

Judy Musisia

Judy Musisia is a registered construction Project Manager from Nairobi, with a degree in Construction Management and over six years of experience in the industry.

As part of the CfC team, Judy handles site and field-based management. She is fervent about giving back to the community and creating a positive impact. Construction allows her to do this because CfC’s structures have led to more job opportunities for the locals along with on-site job training.

The construction Judy has worked on has greatly improved communities. Judy has worked on construction for Flying Kites, an innovation hub in rural Kenya resource for poor girls. The Flying Kites school system invests in local schools' water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure. Infrastructures such as this have always been vital, and have become even more vital since the pandemic. After Covid, 65% of girls felt unsafe during school closures. It’s wonderful to see highly educated females benefit female lead programs such as Flying Kites.

Lillian Namugaya

Before joining CfC, Lillian was a Design Manager at an architectural firm where she managed client relationships and expectations.

Currently, Lillian is a licensed architect and project management professional from Kampala, with ten years of experience in the construction industry.

Lillian completed a Post Graduate Diploma course in Project Planning and Management which allowed her to interact with people working on projects that positively impacted the lives of the less privileged in Uganda.

In 2010, Uganda experienced a severe mudslide in the Bududa district. The mudslide swept away a healthcare facility, and the Bukobero people had to walk miles for healthcare. Lillian is proud to have overseen a new 400 sq. ft. health center that will provide maternity care and deliveries, comprehensive medical care, family planning and youth friendly services.

As a project manager, Lillian’s first project was Flying Kites in Kenya. Another project she is elevated to have worked on. Flying Kites focuses on providing education to young girls and offers college scholarships. {Each project Lillian works on has combatted gender and economic biases.}

Solveig EFOU

Solveig has been a civil engineer for three years. After her studies, Solveig freelanced as an assistant to the Site Manager on construction sites of residential houses. In search of a bigger challenge, Solveig came to CfC.

In March 2022, Solveig was offered a permanent position at CfC, after volunteering for only three months. Solveig is proud of her projects, which have helped her community. At CfC, Solveig is a role model for young girls, showing them through her position at CfC that a career in engineering is possible for women in Africa.
