Meet the Leader Behind the Mission

Why Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic?

After a fulfilling career in public service within state government, I felt the Holy Spirit urging me to step outside my comfort zone. This led me to a role where I could directly serve my community by applying my legal and administrative skills. Servant leadership has always been part of my identity. From working in the church nursery to mentoring through camps and Vacation Bible School, and volunteering with local organizations, I’ve been drawn to serving others. Growing up in Broad Ripple and living in Indianapolis my entire life, I’ve developed a deep love for this city. My education at Heritage Christian School, Taylor University, and McKinney School of Law has prepared me to advocate for justice and equity for Hoosiers.

At Redeemer Presbyterian Church, where I’ve been a member for nearly 20 years, I serve on the Deacon team. This role has brought me face-to-face with profound needs and brokenness that can’t always be resolved. I pray for the grace to walk alongside those facing unimaginable challenges and to bring the love of Christ into those moments. While my contributions may feel small, I trust the Spirit to offer what is most needed, even if it only brings marginal comfort to those in pain.

The work at the Clinic is both inspiring and humbling. We provide legal aid and stability to over 4,000 individuals and families annually, yet the vast majority—96%—of legal needs in our community remain unmet. Despite our efforts, we can only address less than 5% of the demand. This contrast makes our successes all the more meaningful, as we celebrate the lives transformed while acknowledging the weight of those we cannot yet help.

During our giving campaigns and our annual Justice for All (JFA) Celebration, I’m reminded of the importance of support from our community. Gifts affirm the value of our work and sustain us through difficult seasons. They reorient our spirits toward grace and remind us that God Himself is establishing the work of our hands.

The community has been essential to my journey in this ministry. As a member of a powerlifting team at West Indy Barbell, I find strength and encouragement among women from diverse backgrounds. This group supports me through life’s challenges, helping me channel the weight of difficult days or celebrate the victories of clients. Their presence, including their attendance at JFA 2024, has been a source of joy and renewal during a demanding year.

As the Clinic concludes its 30th year, I reflect with gratitude and hope. It’s an honor to serve alongside over 30 dedicated colleagues, and I eagerly look forward to a season of rest and celebration. Thanks to the ongoing support of friends, family, and our community, I’m confident in the blessings yet to come as we step forward into 2025.
