6Right now, in the heart of Leetonia’s village, dozens of stray and feral cats are living sick, scared, and multiplying fast — hidden under porches, behind garages, and right on the sidewalks. They’re battling infections, lice, and unless people step in, nothing will change.

We can’t let that happen.

📍 Where We're Focusing

We’ve mapped out a targeted area in the center of town, bordered by:

North: Butcher Road
West: Washington Street
South: Route 344
East: Columbia Street ending at Nold Street

This zone includes ~9 residential blocks. Based on rural cat population studies, we estimate 1 stray or feral cat for every 3 to 4 buildings. That puts Leetonia’s village center at roughly 40+ feral/stray cats.

Because our community is kind — often feeding and sheltering unneutered/spayed outdoor cats — the cat population is likely growing faster than most people realize.

Rescue Oasis Foundation is launching a program to:

✂️ Spay/neuter to stop overpopulation and suffering
💉 Vaccinate to protect against deadly diseases
🦟 Treat parasites to relieve itching, fleas, and worms
🧪 Test for FeLV/FIV to identify serious infections early
🆔 Microchip adoptable cats so they’re never lost again
💊 Provide medication for infections, wounds, and illnesses

We’ve already secured bulk vaccine pricing, low-cost spay/neuter, and discounted medical supplies. We’re ready to act — we just need the funding.

$25 – Fully vaccinate one cat
$60 – Spay/neuter surgery
$100 – Covers basic vet care: surgery, vaccines, parasite meds

❤️ Why It Matters

This is an animal welfare crisis — and it’s happening right in front of us. Many of these cats are seriously ill, but treatable. Several are able to be socialized and adopt into loving homes, which we are ready to connect them with. Others who are happiest away from people and outdoors (feral and unsocialized) will be medically treated and released as managed community cats.

Without help, these cats will continue to suffer silently.

We just started after 2 kittens (Earl & Grey) ran out into the road right to us.

As of 10/18/2025, we have rescued:

16 cats
These cats have been critically ill across the board—
- All had severe upper respiratory infections, fleas and chewing lice (the lice has required several rounds of treatment due to the severity).
- One has liver disease and dental infection
- Another lost vision and had severe skin infection due to parasites
- Several had severe eye infections

But already, 7/16 have been adopted!
