Have you ever experienced an overwhelming feeling of heightened sensitivity, where every sensation seems amplified, and your nervous system is on high alert? In those moments, even the slightest touch or sound can tip you over the edge, sending you into an outburst of emotions or even causing you to physically and/or emotionally shut down.

While these instances may appear to outsiders as a simple emotional outburst or tantrum, for those who are neurodivergent, there is often a deeper reason:

Their sensory system is in a state of overload.

As someone who has dealt with sensory dysregulation my entire life, I understand firsthand how it can impact emotions, focus, and self-regulation. It can be an isolating and overwhelming experience, particularly in unfamiliar surroundings, family gatherings, and especially the workplace.

My name is Toni Royaal and my experience working in healthcare as a nurse also brought to light the fact that most professional environments were not sensory-friendly, making it difficult for neurodivergent individuals like me to self-regulate when confronted with sensory overload.

So, four years ago as my sensory issues intensified and I was diagnosed as neurodivergent, I began the arduous search for adult sensory products to help manage my sensory overload discreetly because the act of self-stimulating, or "stimming," is crucial for neurodivergent individuals to cope with sensory challenges.

Unfortunately, I discovered that most products available on the market were only made for children, were not discreet, or were not designed with an adult's busy life in mind. Therefore, LET THEM STIM: A One-of-a-Kind Sensory Shop for Adults and Neurodivergent Individuals was born!

LET THEM STIM is an online shop that offers a diverse range of sensory products, including sensory toys, therapeutic tools, books, and consultation services. Our collection is suitable for personal, academic, and professional settings and features discreet and playful options to minimize restlessness, anxiety, and feeling overwhelmed in overstimulating environments.

LET THEM STIM is dedicated to supporting neurodiversity by creating sensory-friendly spaces, providing vital resources, and working with schools and other agencies to provide sensory tools suitable for their space. We are now working to develop our gift-giving program to provide our sensory products to individuals and families with financial barriers at no cost to them.

With a decade of experience in healthcare as a Pediatric and Public Health nurse, our founder, Toni Royaal, has a passion for supporting neurodivergent individuals and leads our team in addressing the critical need for discreet stim toys and sensory tools designed for adults in professional settings.

Our services include consultations to create sensory-friendly environments, promoting awareness of neurodivergent individuals' rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and providing gift-giving initiatives.

Why Support LET THEM STIM?

Did you know that over 1.2 billion people worldwide – about 15 to 20 percent of the population – identify as neurodivergent? Neurodivergence means that their brains develop or function differently, resulting in unique strengths and challenges compared to those with more typical brain development. Although some individuals may have medical conditions, neurodivergence can also apply to those without a diagnosed condition.

With an ever-growing population of individuals with neurodivergence and as neurodivergent children grow into adults, the need for products designed specifically for their needs is essential to ensure everyone has access to effective sensory regulation tools.
