Danetta Elliot was a loving mom, daughter, and friend who radiated strength and positivity. In July 2023, her world shifted when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite the overwhelming news, she faced her diagnosis with remarkable resilience.

In August 2023, she underwent a double mastectomy, followed by radiation treatment in November. Just when she thought she was on the path to recovery, she faced another challenge—her gallbladder needed to be removed in December. Through it all, Danetta traveled to UVA for her care, as Centra Health's Cancer Center was undergoing significant changes. The uncertainty of her local oncologist leaving pushed her to seek the best possible treatment, and her journey became even more demanding with the frequent travel.

With the strain of so much travel, Danetta was in need of a reliable car. Her sister helped her get her car fixed the first time it broke down, but when it happened again, it put her in a difficult position financially. But Danetta’s unwavering spirit never wavered, and she kept pushing forward.

In October 2024, she began the first step of her breast reconstruction journey, with the final phase of her reconstruction scheduled for March 2025. Throughout every hurdle, Danetta has remained an inspiration to those around her, showing immense strength, determination, and love.
