We are proud to announce that our Dream Alive team has been in Yerevan since November 9, coincidentally as the war ended. As the team turned their phones on airplane mode, their final texts and notifications were that the ceasefire agreement was signed. Since landing, the DAF team has delivered these wound vacuums and switched gears to Phase Two: The Refugee Crisis of Artsakh. Many had stepped onto a bus a week or even two weeks ago, and still remain in the same outfit and slippers since that day. Our team is currently working with various refugee centers to provide exactly the basic necessities many are lacking. We personally visit the sites, take inventory of what they currently have, and ask the displaced families what essentials they are missing. This list of items, usually medical supplies, clothing, and food, are purchased and delivered on the same day. Although the large number of humanitarian goods provided to Armenia will greatly benefit our nation, we are able to deliver supplies faster and most efficiently by being on the ground in Armenia ourselves. In addition, all goods are being purchased in Armenia which helps support the local economy.

Background:
Five weeks ago, we all woke up to a war of aggression against Armenia. On September 27th, Azerbaijan attacked Nagorno-Karabakh, also called Artsakh. A full-scale war has now erupted between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the dispute of the autonomy of the region, home to about 150,000 people — 95% of whom are ethnic Armenians, according to a 2015 census.

In the midst of a pandemic, Azerbaijan has ignited what is now the most intense fighting that is taking place in Europe, if not the world. Violating nearly all rules of war by shelling civilian populations and religious/cultural landmarks, using illegal weapons and even engaging Turkish-paid mercenaries/jihadists imported from abroad to fight on their behalf, Armenia’s future is now in jeopardy. This is a human rights issue, which not only directly affects thousands of Armenian-Americans, but indirectly affects all Americans in general, as this remains a threat to global security and peace.

We are all thankfully optimistic and remain ready to act when needed, but some responses are more sensitive than others. We have realized an appropriate response needed in our homeland and ask you to be a part of the solution. As shelling and firings light up the night sky in Artsakh, medical care and equipment are becoming scarce. Unfortunately, the emergency response capacity on the frontlines has been surpassed and wounded soldiers are now being transported to Yerevan to seek the medical attention they need. With heavy trauma, caused primarily by heavy artillery and drone strikes, causalities become fatalities - which can be reversed with your generous support.

#ProjectLifeline
A medical supply manufacturer from New York state has thankfully agreed to work with us in providing much needed medical equipment to Armenia. After consulting with the Ministry of Health of Armenia, we were advised that the most urgently needed item in short supply are Wound Therapy Systems. These wound vacuums often are the only lifeline for soldiers who have trauma and need to be transferred from Artsakh to Yerevan (7-hour road trip) to seek professional medical attention.

Our supplier has agreed to sell us the product at a discounted price and will work to ensure the safe and timely delivery of the wound vacuums to Armenia. We appreciate your support to order and have these wound vacuums in transit to Artsakh by November 6, 2020.
