We provide free, high-impact reading
intervention to students in grades K–4 who are struggling to read in two St. Louis City Public Schools.

Tre’Sean is in second grade. He’s bright, curious, and loves cars—he can name everyone from memory. But when it comes to reading the names in his favorite book, his confidence fades.

Each morning in class, Tre’Sean watches his classmates breeze through sentences while he stumbles over simple words. He’s learned to laugh it off, but inside, he feels the weight of falling behind. His teacher sees the spark in him, but without extra support, Tre’Sean risks slipping through the cracks.

Then came Literacy and Hope.

Through our reading intervention program, Tre’Sean began receiving one-on-one tutoring twice a week. At first, he only knew sounds. But slowly, after his first session, he started sounding out 3 letter legs. The smile on his face when he started to sound out these words was priceless and this was only after one session. We taught him an easy way to blend sounds. We cannot wait to see what he accomplishes throughout our program – sentences, then stories

TreSean’s journey isn’t finished. But every month, he turns a new page. And with your help, he’ll write a future filled with possibility

2/3 of students who cannot read proficiently by the end of 4th grade will end up in jail or
on welfare.
