This event started out in 2023 last year as the Washington Irving Literary Festival created by the folks at Erie Art Company. It has now grown and is being produced in concert with Werner Books and is officially now, Lake Erie LIT Fest! In 2024 the LIT Fest grew in size and moved to Frontier Park.

LELF directly addresses the need for increased cultural enrichment within the Erie community. By providing a platform for literary expression and exploration, the festival:

Promotes Literacy: LELF encourages reading and writing among people of all ages, fostering a love of literature and strengthening literacy skills.
Expands Cultural Horizons: The festival exposes attendees to diverse voices and perspectives, broadening their understanding of the world and promoting cultural awareness.
Inspires Creativity: LELF inspires creative expression by showcasing the work of talented authors and providing opportunities for attendees to participate in workshops and interactive activities.

The mission of the Lake Erie Literary and Storytelling Festival is to celebrate the creative, literary, and storytelling voices of the region and beyond, increase access to literature and culture within the community, and foster joyful creative and critical thinking both on and off the page.
