💌 Donate $25: Send a heartfelt kennel valentine

We'll hang up a special valentine on our doggy/kitty kennels for them from you! Leave a note with your donation if you have a specific pet you'd like us to give it to.

💌 Donate $50: Send a "Secret Admirer" message to a loved one

Donate in a friend’s name and they’ll receive an anonymous “Secret Admirer” message from a shelter pet on Valentine's Day. Make sure to email us their first name and email address at community@lostourhome.org.

💌 Donate $75: Love a pet, name a pet

Help us name a new shelter pet! Leave a note with your donation with the name you'd like for us to use and if you'd prefer a cat or dog.

💌 Donate $100: A loving neuter, in honor of your ex

Have an ex you'd like to get a little harmless revenge on? Name a new, unfixed shelter pet after your ex before they undergo their neuter surgery in their honor 😆 Leave a note with your donation with your ex's name.

💌 Donate $250: Name a kennel in the name of love

We’ll put your name (or your pet's, a loved one's, etc.) on a kennel for the month of February as a token of love and support. Leave a note with your donation with the name you'd like for us to use.

About Lost Our Home

Pets & People in Crisis: Meeting an Unfilled Need

Lost Our Home Pet Rescue was founded in 2008 as a grassroots response to the housing crisis that left thousands of people displaced and thousands of pets abandoned. Lost Our Home Founder and Executive Director, Jodi Polanski, worked as a local mortgage banker during that time and witnessed these devastating results firsthand.

Pets were abandoned in foreclosed homes, often without food or water. Others were forced into shelters—their owners having no other choice. With the second-highest foreclosure rates, and the second-highest shelter-euthanasia rates, Maricopa County was experiencing a crisis, and no existing service was designed to address the needs of both people and pets.

Jodi was quick to recognize this urgent need and launched Lost Our Home Pet Rescue with just a small network of volunteers who were focused on helping the pets that had been abandoned during the housing crisis. Help and hope were on the way!

Soon we learned that the need was even greater than we originally thought, and we responded by quickly expanding our programs to offer additional programs for pets and pet parents facing other life crises too. Today, our programs include:

💕 Temporary Care Program: provides up to 90 days of complete care for pets when their pet parents experience a life hardship and are unable to care for them temporarily. This relieves pet parents of the overwhelming fear of losing their pet and, in turn, allows them to solely focus on regaining stability in their lives so they can be reunited with their pet.

💕 Pet Food Bank Program: provides pet food and supplies to financially struggling individuals so they do not have to give their pets up simply because they cannot afford pet food during their time of need.

💕 Pet Rescue Program for Abandoned and/or Owner-Surrendered Pets: provides medical care, shelter and food, all while trying to find forever loving homes.

💕 Tempe First Responder program: Provides 24/7 access to the shelter for first responders on duty when they have a situation involving a pet that needs a safe place to go.

💕 Domestic Violence Program: We partner with the domestic violence shelters A New Leaf and Sojourner Center, providing guidance, resources, and much more to help these shelters house pets on their campuses. We work with many other domestic violence shelters and agencies. providing their clients with up to 90 days of free pet care, food bank assistance, and more.

Lost Our Home Pet Rescue has grown substantially to become an integral part of the community. Today, it fills the gap that once existed for pets and pet parents in crisis. Lost Our Home delivers not only life-changing but also life-saving programs, breaking new ground in how pet rescue organizations today are interfacing with many of society’s challenging needs.
