The Symphony Volunteer Council hosted the annual Lois Pickard Music Scholarship Luncheon on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Hoover Country Club to celebrate the season's Lois Pickard Concerto Competition winners and continue to raise support for education and scholarships.

The Lois Pickard Concerto Competition was held Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the University of Montevallo. Sponsored by the Symphony Volunteer Council, the competition is open to serious and gifted young musicians ages 12 through seniors in high school in the state of Alabama. First and second-place scholarships were awarded in each of these three divisions: strings, piano, and brass/winds/percussion. Winners performed and received scholarships at the spring luncheon.
