We are participating in the Look Walk - Making Strides for PANS and PANDAS and are asking for your support. Raising awareness and funding for PANS and PANDAS, so children and families don’t suffer from the debilitating disorders, is incredibly important to our family.
As many of you know, both of our daughters, Peyton and Ava, have been afflicted with PANS/PANDAS which has been life changing for our family. These medical conditions are triggered by infection, causing significant brain inflammation, and resulting in severe psychiatric symptoms. Often, these individuals eventually develop additional complex autoimmune conditions, such as Lupus, which has been the case with our older daughter, Peyton.
The symptoms for PANDAS/PANS are different for every child but share a common theme-they are life altering and something no child should endure. As parents, we have watched our daughters suffer unimaginable pain and suffering, yet at the same time, we have seen such strength and bravery that we never thought was possible for a kid. They are true inspirations.
