Lumos' Story 🐇

On September 23, 2025 we were alerted to an abandoned small white domestic rabbit living outside in a local neighborhood for weeks.  The neighborhood banned together and provided food and water, but no one could catch Lumos.  It appeared the little bun was abandoned, which is a too common fate for rabbits. Especially albino rabbits that are white with red eyes. They are commonly misunderstood and mistaken for being "scary" or "evil".  They are usually the last to be adopted. We set traps to catch the little bun and it took 2 days! Lumos kept exploring near the traps but not going in. Finally, during a heavy rain day a volunteer removed the towel covering the trap...he miraculously went in! Albino rabbits have poorer eye sight due to their lack of pigment. Removing the towel likely helped Lumos see the goodies inside. We are so thankful Lumos was trapped!
