Hello, our names are Clarissa and Rose. We are two indigenous women born and raised in Fresno, CA. Together we make up Lux Pup. We appreciate you taking the moment to read our story. Lux Pup is a luxury mobile pet grooming service intended to serve California’s Central Valley. Lux Pup specializes in luxury pet grooming in a mobile setting.

What differentiates us from a traditional salon or other mobile grooming services is our dedication to the care and overall well-being of all four-legged family members. Our services include high quality products that are both safe for the pet and the environment. We utilize fear-free grooming practices and tailor our services to each individual pet's needs. Lux Pup understands that pets are family and aims to provide a service that meets the expectations for the grooming we have of our own personal pets.

Lux Pup is more than just a way to pay the bills for us, it is our shared dream and ambition to build a legacy beyond the spectrum of just capital wealth. As first-generation business owners, we are a collective striving to change the cycle for the next generation. We are breaking the cycles of hardships that Indigenous people endure, such as; financial, job, and home insecurities. Having triumphed from these insecurities ourselves, we aim to be the change we wish to see and lead future generations to do the same for themselves.

We hope to revolutionize the current culture in this female-dominated field. The grooming industry can sometimes be a very challenging and stressful work environment. It is normative that groomers will neglect their basic needs like taking breaks, eating lunch, or even just going to the restroom. Traditional salons tend to favor high commission numbers, which in turn can form unhealthy expectations for the groomers to make a livable wage. Lux Pup believes in quality over quantity. We both want to create a sustainable and safe work space for ourselves and others in this field to do what we love most. Being raised in a highly diverse community like the Central Valley, we aspire to use Lux Pup as a tool to give back and serve the community that directly helped shape our character and existence.

Putting our efforts into action, raising fifty thousand dollars would not only help us launch our business but also alleviate some of the ongoing financial insecurities. As first-time business owners, a big portion of this funding will be used to purchase the heart of the business, a fully converted grooming van. This van aligns with our belief in reducing our negative impact on the environment by utilizing solar energy. Another portion will be used to purchase up-to-date grooming equipment and products to ensure we provide a luxurious and safe experience for our furry friends.
