What started as a promise to one family and one young man who had just gotten out of juvenile detention for a gun charge became a young college student’s vision to be the change he wished to see in the world. The Promise’s founder envisioned a program that would deliver an unparalleled ability to recruit, retain, and graduate African American male students at one of America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

HBCU Promise, Inc. is currently looking to grow to scale. The Promise will fill in the gaps between getting students into college and the shortcomings of just receiving a traditional scholarship by expanding its laser-focused plan to increase the number of African American males attending HBCUs through its transformational, innovative, and unique support plan referred to as the Promise’s Individual Support Plans.
