The Power of Sleep- A Three Part Series

Ponderosa Center is continuing its online initiative, Ponderosa Center Presents starting January 12, 2021. Dr. Dan Ostermiller, M.D., will host the first series, “The Power of Sleep, a three-part series,” Tuesday January 12, 19 and 26th at 3:00 p.m. MTN. “I wish I would have talked to my patients more about sleep,” states Dr. Dan Ostermiller, M.D. Since retiring, Dr. Dan has made it his retirement mission to understand the causes of life-style illness and will share sleep’s impact on overall health and methods for achieving effective sleep, throughout the series.

Unfortunately, only one third of Americans achieve adequate sleep. Science now understands sleep to be the bedrock of health. In fact, Mathew Walker, PhD, claims that this “silent sleep loss epidemic is the greatest public health challenge we face in the twenty-first century.” Your sleep effects your immune system, sexuality, how long you live, your weight, how well you drive, whether you are mentally healthy and it can impact your susceptibility to cancer, dementia, coronary disease and/or diabetes.

The five pillars of healthy living have always included sleep. It is the foundation for healthy living yet modern society has made it difficult to have healthy sleep practices. From proactively managing the abundance of artificial light to transforming attitudes toward ample sleep, strategies to enhance sleep hygiene are available and Dr. Ostermiller will share proven quality sleep behaviors.

Designed for the community who may have new questions on sleep that arose from the two previous programs. The final session is an online conversation with Dr. Ostermiller, M.D. who has had success teaching his patients how to develop behaviors that are conducive to healthy sleep quality and quantity. An interactive session in which you are welcome to share your super sleep tips as well.
