Every March, millions of people fill out brackets, cheer for buzzer beaters, and celebrate the magic of March Madness. But while the excitement of the tournament captures the nation’s attention, many girls still don’t have access to the simple opportunity to play sports.

At Leveling the Fields, we are working to change that.

Leveling the Fields is a nonprofit dedicated to creating more opportunities for girls to participate in sports, and develop leadership skills through play. Our programs bring multi-sport experiences and empowerment curriculum directly into elementary schools, especially Title I schools and communities where access to sports can be limited by cost, transportation, or availability.

Through our EmpowerPlay program, girls are introduced to a variety of sports while also learning confidence, teamwork, resilience, and leadership. Each program provides trained and paid coaches, equipment, journals, snacks, and structured activities that help girls build skills both on and off the field.

This March, we’re turning the excitement of basketball season into something bigger.

The Madness for a Mission campaign goal is to raise $35,000 by the Final Four on April 6 to help expand sports opportunities for girls. The funds raised will directly support programs in local schools and allow more girls to experience the power of sports.

Every donation helps provide the resources needed to run these programs and bring sports to girls who may not otherwise have the chance to participate.

Because when girls play, they gain far more than just a game. They gain confidence, leadership, and a sense that they belong on the field.
