Established in 1639, Mather Elementary holds the distinguished honor of being the first public elementary school in North America. Our school has long been a beacon of educational excellence, serving the Dorchester community for centuries and fostering generations of learners.

Throughout its storied history, Mather Elementary has adapted to the evolving needs of our students and community. Today, we continue this tradition by striving to provide our students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for future success. However, we face challenges that require the support of dedicated and generous donors like you.

One of our most pressing needs is the replacement of our aging playgrounds and outdoor learning spaces. Our current playground equipment is outdated with some parts unusable and no longer meets the standards we want for our children. A new playground will provide a safe and stimulating environment for our students to play, learn, and grow.

In addition to the playground, we aim to expand enrichment opportunities for our students. Programs in the arts, sciences, and physical education are crucial for the holistic development of our children. These programs not only enhance academic performance but also foster creativity, teamwork, and a love for learning.
