'Maverick' the Therapy Dog

Maverick is CaringPlace of the Shoals’ beloved therapy dog, bringing comfort, calm, and connection to our dementia clients through gentle, purposeful visits. He provides emotional support and companionship, helps reduce anxiety and agitation, and often sparks meaningful memories through touch, eye contact, and familiar routines. Maverick also supports socialization and engagement—encouraging conversation, participation in activities, and simple moments of joy that help our clients feel safe, seen, and valued.

Beyond CaringPlace, Maverick is proud to serve the Shoals community through outreach visits to local assisted living communities, nursing homes, and hospitals. His presence offers encouragement to residents, patients, families, and staff—lifting spirits during difficult days and creating moments of peace and hope. Whether he’s making rounds to share a comforting nuzzle, posing for a quick photo, or simply sitting quietly beside someone who needs a friend, Maverick helps extend our “circle of care” well beyond our walls.
