Maxime arrived to the sanctuary from a rescue in NH. She was a lone cow and there for 2 years! She was struggling to find her forever home. She was living in a small space with limited grazing area (no fault by the rescue). This space was meant for horses and not a large cow. Cows are herd animals and need the presence of other animals to be happy and healthy, so this was not ideal. Our yak, Marge, was also alone for some time and we were searching for a friend. The stars aligned and these two became friends!
We don’t know much about Maxime’s back story, but many dairy cows in her situation are slaughtered once they can no longer produce milk. Maxime is a lucky girl to arrive here at the sanctuary!
