Story

UPDATE ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 16: Thank you so much for helping us reach the first step of raising $1000! These contributions will go towards the fees and services for filing for state and federal 501(c)3 status. Due to paperwork timelines and backlogs, we anticipate to fully complete this process by December 2020. Non-profit status, here we come!

But we’re not done yet. Registering as a non-profit is like breaking new ground; now we need to lay the foundations. Your contributions towards our second goal of $2000 will help MAYE Corps build out our ability to work on projects such as:

  • Doing energy efficiency retrofitting work
  • Training and developing our team of volunteers
  • Creating equitable leadership opportunities for youth

As MAYE Corps continues to grow as an organization of young, gender-diverse leaders who are majority-POC (people of color), we want to invest in our future by registering as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This designation will lend credibility to the critical work we are doing to promote equitable, local energy solutions through advocacy, empowerment, and on-the-ground retrofitting. This status will also open doors for us to fund future retrofit projects and professional development for our dedicated team.

In taking this monumental step, MAYE Corps is counting on the support of individuals who believe in our vision for the future—a vision of energy equity for all Metro Atlantans. We hope to finance the approximate $1,000 in registration costs with the help of contributions from charitable donors within our community.

As MAYE Corps will be eligible to apply for a wider number of grants upon becoming a nonprofit, donations made to this fundraiser will be multiplied beyond their value today. Your gift in any amount will have a direct impact on our capacity to develop youth leaders and energy advocates, elevate the voices of young people of color, and expand our energy efficiency programs. Thank you in advance for your generous support!
