A young family of four in Somerville, Massachusetts, needs our help—and Somerville knows how to deliver!

This family, like so many others, came to the U.S. in search of a better life. They are currently going through the process of securing asylum, which is extremely expensive and stressful. Funding has been helping them to cover their bills, support their two young children, and assist with the everyday necessities of life while they go through the process of obtaining legal work authorization.

Recently, the state significantly cut the family's SNAP benefits—a devastating blow during a time of rising need for vulnerable families across the state. We have therefore raised the goal of this fundraiser to help them make up for this loss, in addition to other increasing costs and financial burdens the family is currently enduring.
