🎁 Your donation helps kickstart a new kind of studio — one rooted in the real-world and producing experiences that are bottom-up, cooperative, improvisational, and intentionally offline.
Funds cover costs like space rentals, materials, food, artist stipends, instllation costs, etc. In 2025, your contiribution will support the debut projects:
- when a friend knocks: Between March and September 2025, 150+ of us gathered across 14 events to play and make together. Each gathering was intentionally offline: nothing from it was fed to, or ever will feed, the algorithms. You can learn more about it here: https://friendknocks.my.canva.site/
- what clings: the culmination of when a friend knocks. An immerise, interactive experience exploring a past we can never fully return to, offering evidence that collective making is still possible, and opening a portal back to our childhood.
Ethos
-
Community empowerment. We source locally as much as possible. Anyone can host an event. We rely on homes and public spaces, and collaborate with neighborhood businesses and artists.
-
Resisting the attention economy. No instagram, no tik tok. We raise awareness through less addictive tools: flyers, word of mouth, sms, community partnerships.
-
Questioning scale. Most events are intentionally intimate. Bigger does not mean more success. But sometimes, we might just host a 50+ person water balloon fight.
-
Physical presence required. The work lives offline. There’s no livestream. You had to be there.
-
No spectating. Everyone participates — by playing, building, creating. The host does everything the participants do.
