Sydney Rucci, Special Education Teacher at Dawson Middle School, House Flooding

"On Wednesday, April 10th I left school around 5:00 and met my husband (Jeff) at the gym to workout. My husband works from home (with our dog Honey) so he had been home all day and left a little before 5 to meet me. When we left the gym around 6:35, the garage door opened, and I was welcomed with water dripping from the ceiling. When we opened the door, water came pouring out and Honey was standing in about 2 inches of water. When we initially walked in, our entire house was flooded, the ceiling was falling apart, and leaking water everywhere. I ran upstairs to see where it was coming form and the ceiling began to fall so we took grabbed Honey and went out to the front yard and had to call the Grapevine Fire Department (shoutout to Station 2) to come shut off our water. Once we got everything shut off, we immediately called insurance and a restoration company (shoutout to ATS Restoration) and they came out that night and started the drying up process. Throughout the weekend, we kept getting bad news after bad news, the worst being our insurance policy would only cover a very small amount due to the "declaration of limitation for water damage." We are staying with family and have been given a 2-3 months timeframe until we are back in our home. We are currently in the demo phase where they have completely torn down/apart our kitchen, walls, ceilings, master bedroom, and bathroom. We will hopefully start the rebuilding of our house soon! We greatly appreciate the person who applied for us and for Dragons Care team during this stressful time! We have pictures if you would like to share those if wanted."
