Help Hopscotch and Cheddar! ❤️

Hopscotch first showed up a few months ago. I was shocked to see a 3 legged kitty show up on the cameras. It was honestly hard to watch. Not only was he missing a leg but a hind one at that. Not having a hind leg makes it much more difficult to get around and jump when needed. Being a cat outside is risky enough, being a disabled cat outside is just heartbreaking.

After doing some investigating I discovered he actually belonged to someone and lost his leg after getting hit by a car. When I found out he was still being allowed outside and how far he was traveling I was shocked. He was not a neighborhood cat but traveled a long distance to get to us. He would come by and play randomly in the middle of the night but was very elusive. Some times he would eat but always played with the toys and silvervine sticks. He seemed to be healthy otherwise and living his best life, not letting his disability hold him back. But outside is no place for a disabled cat.  I spoke to a couple of people who knew who he was and knew the family that "owned" him. I begged them to keep him in. Eventually a friend of mine who was working on a different TNR project was actually was able to trap him, get him neutered and vaccinated. We did not want to release him but were promised he would be kept inside. Making the hardest decision we ever had to make, we released him. I hadn't seen him in a couple months so i hoped he was being kept inside.

Fast forward to this past Saturday. Hopscotch was dumped in the middle of the night, in the rain outside of ACC, while they were closed. With him was another cat named Cheddar that I was familiar with but had only seen a handful of times on camera. Turns out they are a bonded pair. This individual decided he wanted nothing to do with either of them anymore, and dumped him. However, when he was TNR'd, he was microchipped with my friend Jen's information. ACC scanned him and alerted her. When I found he was dumped at ACC, I was mad, sad and defeated all at once. I kept telling myself "atleast he dumped them there and not somewhere else". People suck but I try and see the positive in negative situations. Instantly we knew we needed to get them out and try and find them a loving home.

After being examined medically we learned Hopscotch is FIV+. Not the end of the world but also something no rescuer wants to hear. We knew it would be harder to get him adopted and were unsure if he would get to stay with Cheddar. I'm also not a rescue. Just someone who does whatever they can. I have some contacts but there's only so much i can do.

Initially I was keeping them till we figured out a long term plan. Im still not sure what that is at the moment. They've been staying with me and eventually I considered taking them myself longterm. However integrating them with my current cats hasnt been ideal. As much as id love to keep them i have to make sure the situation is right for everyone.

Please help all you can. If you dont want to donate money you can also donate food from my Amazon wishlist. All money will be used for their medical bills, medicines, food and anything else they may need.

I thank you in advance and am always overwhelmed by how many caring people there are out there. I am humbled by how many people care about the animals we look after. I appreciate you and couldn't do any of this without you!

To a better life for Hopscotch and Cheddar! ❤️❤️❤️
