OUR STORY

MusicOne, a track underneath the decade-old non-profit YouthOne, is collaborating with Pyramind Institute and Studios to widen the scope, provide a greater quality, and improve the efficacy of MusicOne’s existing mission: increasing life-long wellbeing in youth through creative outlet, musical performance, and technical music education.

The CDC Reports (Ages 12-17, 2022-23):

36.7% experience persistent sadness/hopelessness
18.8% seriously consider suicide
15.7% create a suicide plan

Suicide Attempts (Girls, 2021):

1 in 10 girls attempted suicide in 2021

Post-Pandemic Impact (2022-23):

Increased severity of symptoms observed

Contextual Summary:

Out of every 100 adolescents, approximately 37 feel persistently sad or hopeless. Nearly 19 out of 100 contemplate suicide, with 16 out of 100 making detailed plans. In 2021, one in ten girls attempted suicide. Post-pandemic, symptoms have worsened in 2022-23.

Positive Insight:

UC Berkeley's recent research emphasizes that genuine happiness doesn't come from material possessions. Instead, intentional communal activities significantly reduce anxiety and depression, fostering transformative happiness.

Through our collaboration, we want to see youth reached, empowered, resourced and transformed to succeed through a network of screened adult teachers, counselors, coaches, and peer mentors. We feel the starting point is to provide real world resources to Bay Area inner-city youth and developing artists through intentional education, holistic mentorship, and rehearsal and recording facility access.
