Help us support communities caring for refugees in Finland.

In consultation with our local partners in Finland—the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland and the Ecumenical Churches Council of Finland—we will be running programs for local parishes involved in refugee care in four Finnish cities (Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, and Pori).

Finland’s history of welcoming refugees stretches back to the 1970s. That story is still continuing in local communities, where people are building new lives and finding a sense of belonging. Our work in Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, and Pori will connect with that wider story. Each city represents a place where the national commitment to welcoming refugees becomes personal—through relationships, practical care, and the everyday work of local communities.

Today, tensions involving Russia bring uncertainty closer to home. For the communities we serve, displacement may feel less distant—a possibility that could affect their own lives if tensions escalate further. We are adapting our programs to reflect this reality. We are modifying how we introduce and discuss displacement, recognizing that those supporting refugees may also be carrying fears about their own safety and future.

Our approach makes space for these concerns while keeping the experiences of people already displaced at the heart of the work. Through these programs, we aim to strengthen understanding, connection, and mutual care in uncertain times. Your support will help us bring these programs to Finland, supporting local communities as they welcome and care for refugees in their contexts.
