How it will work
We believe that a table is at the heart of the gospel and we've got big dreams of sharing food and building community across Atlanta with our very own Mercy Food Truck! Can you help us?
We're Mercy--we're a grassroots church where people who live on the streets and people who live in houses worship and work together. For 15 years we have shared food and clothing, shelter and hospitality. We've praised God and worked for justice. Then came 2020. While many churches have had to remain closed, we've found creative ways to safely care for our community outdoors--a community that has doubled in size since the pandemic began! Like the wilderness tabernacle of old, we have dreams of going mobile to build community, share food, safely care for our neighbors, and "be church" across the city!
Ecumenical, open and affirming, we are a congregation that meets on the lawn of St. John's Lutheran Church in Atlanta, GA. We believe that God desires life, health, dignity, and sanctuary for us all. Whether you are in housing or not, whether you live in our neighborhood or come from far away, whether you love the church or if you have ever felt left out; we want to welcome you! Come see us anytime as we work to build one another up in beloved community. We are open multiple days of the week for prayer, worship, study, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the sharing of food, clothing, and hospitality.
