Founded by Meredith Monk in 1968 and incorporated in 1971, the House Foundation for the Arts is a nonprofit organization based in New York City whose mission is to cultivate cultural engagement through live music, interdisciplinary performance, exhibitions, and educational initiatives centered on the work of Meredith Monk. Our annual fund supports the creation and performance of new work, educational programs, and general operations.

Whether it’s $25 or $500, every gift makes a difference, so please consider making a tax-deductible contribution today!

As 2026 comes to a close, Meredith continues to offer her extraordinary work to longtime fans and new audiences as an antidote to despair in our challenging times. Your support helps her keep doing what she has done for six decades: creating groundbreaking interdisciplinary art and experiences for audiences around the world.

This year, it took her far. Concerts with Vocal Ensemble members Katie Geissinger and Allison Sniffin played in Nantes and Paris in February, Irvine and Berlin in March, Essen in June, and Mexico City and Bogotá this October. In June, DUET BEHAVIOR with John Hollenbeck traveled to Amsterdam as part of a return to the Holland Festival, and Meredith’s year-long Pina Bausch Professorship culminated in a student showing at Folkwang University.

The new year will start close to home, with DUET BEHAVIOR at ArtYard in Frenchtown, New Jersey in January. In April, INDRA’S NET comes to the LA Phil. Meanwhile, Meredith is creating a new piece, TIME DANCE, through residencies this fall and spring at Park Avenue Armory and Grace Farms. Inspired by myths and traditions related to the afterlife, the work expands her longstanding examination of cycles of life, death and rebirth to offer an affirming experience of hope and resilience.

Whether it’s cherished pieces being shared with new audiences in new cities, or new work coming to life, we’ve been honored to continue helping Meredith take her singular vision out to global communities and individual supporters like you.
