Tulsa Global Alliance will host 16 high school Youth Ambassadors (ages 16–18) and 3 adult leaders from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru through the U.S. State Department’s Youth Ambassadors South America program. We are seeking families to welcome these visitors into their homes from October 19–29, providing meals, a place to stay, and transportation to and from the University of Tulsa on weekdays. (TGA can assist families with transportation if needed.)

This is a meaningful opportunity to share Tulsa hospitality while supporting international youth leadership and civic engagement.

🪏 Caja de Agua Groundbreaking Ceremony

On September 19, we celebrated the groundbreaking of the Caja de Agua at Tulsa Botanic Garden, a gift from our Sister City of San Luis Potosí, Mexico. This replica of the historic 19th-century water reservoir will soon become Tulsa’s newest landmark of international friendship. Thank you to our generous supporters who contributed to this project. This summer, Tulsa Global Alliance hosted international exchanges and community celebrations that brought Tulsa closer to the world!

🎉 Celebrating 20 Years of Tulsa-Amiens

In July, a Tulsa delegation visited Amiens, France to mark the 20th anniversary of our Sister City partnership. Leaders from Tulsa and Amiens reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate in areas like education, arts and culture, and economic development. A highlight of the trip was the signing ceremony, where local high school students who had previously visited Tulsa through exchange programs served as interpreters and shared how the experience shaped them as young leaders.

🇨🇦 Tulsa Hosts Youth Ambassadors from Canada 

Twelve high school students and two adult leaders from across Canada spent ten days in Tulsa through the Youth Ambassadors with Canada program. They explored youth leadership and civic engagement while experiencing Tulsa’s schools, community organizations, and family hospitality.

🇩🇪 Beyond Washington: Bundestag Staff Visit Tulsa 

TGA welcomed a delegation of 20 Bundestag staff members from Germany as part of the U.S. Embassy’s Beyond Washington program. Their time in Tulsa featured professional meetings, cultural experiences, and a conversation with City Councilor Christian Bengel, Honorary Ambassador to our Sister City of Celle.

☀️ A Summer of Global Gatherings with Gathering Place

This summer, TGA partnered with Gathering Place and TCCL to bring international culture to Tulsa through Global Gatherings. Sister City chairs led global storytimes, and participated in weekly celebration events that highlighted regions from around the world. The summer events culminated in the Global Gatherings World Festival on August 9, where families enjoyed performances, activities, and connections that showcased Tulsa’s place in the global community.
